Are Your Thoughts Working For You or Against You?
Cindy Hyde, MA Our minds have been created for genius. I’m afraid to inform you that you actually use but a small fraction of what was give to you. Einstein, one of the most brilliant men on earth only used a fraction of his mind. Your mind is often the battleground between opposing thoughts. Between good and evil, between should I and shouldn’t I, and between I will and I will not thoughts. All sin starts with one thought. Sin is considered as anything that misses the mark, anything that falls short of God’s very best for your life. Sin is usually something that is harmful to yourself or others. If someone makes you mad, what thoughts come? In this case are your thoughts working for you or against you? Looking at your thoughts can give you a good roadmap of your heart. If you are what you think, what do your thoughts say about you? Are you ok? Are you hurting? Are you offended? Angry? Filled with love for yourself? For others? Take a quick inventory. Do you have thoughts about yourself or others that are healthy or unhealthy? Do you have stressful thoughts? Are you fearful or hopeful? Are your thoughts working for you or against you? You Are What You Think is Truer Than You Know You were fearfully and wonderfully made. You are created in God’s very image, in His likeness. Everything about you pleases Him. He has known you since before you were created in your mother’s womb. When He looked upon you the day you were born He rejoiced. He loves you with an unconditional love and wants only the best for you. He provides guidelines for your life in the Bible. He gave you a mind that could run faster than the speed of sound. He gave you a mind that could think for itself, reason, plan, process, store data, and retain information for five or more senses. Scientists are still baffled at all the mind can do. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "What is life but the angle of vision? A man is measured by the angle at which he looks at objects. What is life but what a man is thinking of all day? This is his fate and his employer. Knowing is the measure of the man. By how much we know, so we are." I believe what you think about all day determines your life, your health, your relationships, your success, your financial status, and your future. Francis Bacon said, “The mind is the man, and knowledge mind; a man is but what he knoweth." When you have knowledge about how to think and can change your thoughts, you can change your life. You can make your thoughts work for you instead of against you. Thoughts can make you sick mentally, emotionally, and physically. One negative thought is all it takes to produce toxicity. One negative thought transformed into a positive one produces positive results. One thought at a time is all it takes to start and maintain a new thought life. A life producing thought life that will bring health, improved relationships, success, provision, and a bright future to you. The spiritual law of reaping and sowing is applicable to every thought. Scientifically a negative attitude causes your physical body to become acidic. Cancer cells can only survive and thrive in an acidic environment. Think about fear and the physiological symptoms that one fearful thought can usher in. Increased heart rate, increased respiration, dumping of adrenaline and other chemicals that are necessary for the fight or flight mode. However long-term exposure to these chemicals produces high blood pressure, strokes, and many other dis-eases related to fear, stress, and anxiety. Your thoughts make you sick. Or said another way, your thoughts can make you healthy. Dr. Masaru Emoto has conducted extensive research on the effect words have on water. By either speaking a word or even writing the word with the intent behind it and taping it on a water bottle the molecular structure of the water is changed. If the word is positive the water will form clear, pure, and well formed crystals. If the word is negative the water will become dark, toxic, and will not form any crystals. He discovered the power behind words and proves it scientifically. Dr. Emoto proved beyond all doubt that our thoughts, intents, whether spoken or written are powerful forces. "For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." Proverbs 2 3:7 Think These Thoughts... The Scripture gives us some specific instructions about the kinds of thoughts we should be thinking. If you want a better life, a brighter future you will learn how to manage your thoughts from the One Who created your beautiful mind and its capacity to think. Philllipians 4:8 says, Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things. (KJV). God’s Word translation interprets it this way: Finally, brothers and sisters, keep your thoughts on whatever is right or deserves praise: things that are true, honorable, fair, pure, acceptable, or commendable.
Think on these things: meditate upon them, revolve them in your minds, seriously consider them, and reason with yourselves about them, in order to put them into practice. Esteem them highly, recommend them heartily, and practice them fervently. Mt. 12:25 says any kingdom that is divided against itself cannot stand, it will fall. If you think of yourself as a kingdom are you fortified and strong – able to stand and prosper body, soul, mind and spirit? Are you vulnerable and weak physically, emotionally and mentally, and spiritually – unable to stand because you are divided against yourself through your thoughts? God wants us to take every thought captive (2 Cor. 10:5) and think on the things that will strengthen and edify you (Phil 4:8). God says He wants you to prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers (3 Jn 2). He says He knows the plans He has for you (Jer. 29:11). God says He is working all things out for your good because you love Him (Rom 8:28). He wants you healthy in your body, mind, and soul. He sent His Word to heal you and deliver you out of your destructions (Ps 107:20). Will you let Him heal and deliver you from wrong thinking and their effects on your body or shall you continue to let your thoughts work against you? ___________________________________ Cindy Hyde, MA is an author, blogger, media personality, minister, counselor, coach, and CEO and founder of The East Texas Healing Center.
