Are you Square?

A friend stopped by today and was sharing how we are influenced by the denomination we identify with. As believers we are to identify with the Word of God on every point. As he was talking a vision of square watermelons popped into my mind. Yes I said square watermelons. Yes, there is such a thing. They grow them in Japan. Look at them in the picture on the left. Their square shape makes them easier to transport.

Square watermelons are the same as round ones. Except for their shape. They are the same color, the same taste, the same weight. The square ones are created by placing the growing watermelons inside a square container (a box). They could not grow beyond their boundary. They conformed to the box they were put in.

Are you in a box? A box symbolized a denomination. Are you conforming to the 'box' that you are in? Are you square?  Have you lost your origionality? If yes, my next question is... how weird is a square watermelon? It still looks and tastes like a round one but the difference is that the square one is a freak of nature. It was not intended to be square. A watermelon is oblong or round! Especially when you are from the South like we are.

Are you believing the entrie Word of God as the truth, revelation, and life that it is or are there parts that are 'not for today'? I was in a "box" once, actually a couple of different boxes, and yes, I was like the square watermelon. I left the natural spiritual growth process that God intended for me and boxed myself in with the others who chose to be square instead of round.

I was being taught the doctrine (teaching) of the denomination which was pieces of truth but what they taught was their version of the truth. It was not until I got out of the box that the Lord began revealing truths to me as I read His Word. I was actually angry at the church/es for quite a while. Many of the things I believed were just not true, or were partial truths. Did you know the animals did not go two by two into the ark? Some were used for sacrifices and many more than two of them went in. I had no idea! That was just one insignificant truth that I was taught. They didn't lie, maybe it was the only truth they knew for themselves. The Scriptures plainly tell us that we are to be like the Berean Jews and study the Word of God for ourselves, making sure what we are being taught is truth according to God, not according to man's interpretation of what God is saying. The Scripture interprets itself.

My heart is for you to realize first of all that you  may be in a box. It is possible that you are being 'squared' off by the religious boundaries instead of being able to grow to your full round stature as a believer. Ask the Lord to reveal to you any boxes you may have in your life. Then ask Him to remove them. He will.

"Be not conformed... "

Be who God intended you to be!
