While I'm not presently in a relationship, I still find myself having to remember the rules of "a fair fight." My family has very different political beliefs than mine, and it's so easy to just resort to ugliness. "Is it true? Is it helpful? Is it important? Is it necessary? Is it kind?" I had these questions hung over my desk as a crisis worker when I was in the mental health field, and they spelled THINK- as in, "think before you speak." But in my personal life, especially now that I'm not in the field anymore, it's embarrassingly easy to forget them. I appreciate the reminder that these aren't just tenets for being a 'good person'- they are actually scriptural.
